PIAL Class 3

July 7-8, 2021, Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL) conducted a field visit to evaluate LVFD’s past response history, department readiness for future responses, equipment to provide these services within our response area, station distribution within the Village of Loreauville, along with other required documentation that is reviewed during this field visit. During this field visit PIAL also reviewed documentation, protocols and readiness of our newly constructed Iberia Parish 911 Center. Along with the evaluations of Loreauville Volunteer Fire Department and Iberia Parish 911 Center, PIAL reviewed The Village of Loreauville’s water system that is maintained by Lawco. This evaluation is to ensure required fire hydrant distributions and fire flows are met for residential and commercial buildings within the Village.

In the past history of our organization, LVFD has provided a Class 4 rating within the Village of Loreauville. Property Insurance Association of Louisiana grades all fire departments within the State of Louisiana. This evaluation is based on a scale of Class 1 through Class 10 rating, with a Class 1 rating being the highest rating a department can receive. It is with great pride that the Loreauville Volunteer Fire Department can announce, beginning December 1, 2021 LVFD has improved from a Class 4 to a Class 3 Rating.

What does this mean for you? Due to the continued support LVFD has received from the Village of Loreauville, Iberia Parish Fire District 1, Lawco, Iberia Parish 911 Center and the community our organization serves, this rating states our readiness to serve our community in their time of need. Along with this enhanced state of readiness, residential and commercial properties within the Village of Loreauville should see a savings on insurance premiums starting December 1, 2021.

In closing, I would like to take the opportunity to thank every member of our organization. Without the individual effort every member gives to LVFD, our organization could not serve our community at the level we provide. It’s a group effort that ables us to provide this classification improvement to our community. I would like to thank IPFD1 for their assistance in the collection of data for our evaluation. Lawco for their effort to ensure readiness of our water system to provide the services we do in times of fire. Also, Iberia Parish 911 Center for their time and effort in providing the required documentation needed during our field visit.

Thank you all for your time and effort in assisting Loreauville Volunteer Fire Department in our improvement to Class 3 rating.
